| I believe every life is sacred. Unborn children have the fewest protections of us all. They have no ability to defend themselves, so it is crucial that we, as breathing, thinking, rational and caring human beings, protect them from harm. If we honestly believe lives matter and insist on equality and inclusion by others, then we must support pro-life policies ourselves. Equality has no exceptions. | |||

| There are situations where I support tax credits, but only when there is a clear public benefit. For example, tax credits for the preservation of historic buildings benefits communities and preserves history, when the only other financial option may be demolition. Tax credits that create jobs with higher wages often result in increased local economic activity and more revenue for schools and infrastructure. I do not support reductions in salaries and pensions for state employees, but I do support reducing government waste including unnecessary state services and special interest funding of organizations that should not be supported by taxpayer funds. | |||

| I believe it is our right to support political candidates and issues as we choose, but the identities of every contributor should be disclosed in order to eliminate the "dark money" that is used by both parties. Funneling contributions through PACs and political parties to then be distributed to candidates and issues is currently a form of legal money laundering that has corrupted the political process. Also, consideration should be given to eliminating money from out of state in the same way we prevent political contributions from foreign countries. | |||

| When I refer to mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders, I do NOT mean mandatory prison sentences. For example, in lieu of prison time, addiction treatment and volunteer work has proven to be more effective and more appropriate for these individuals. Many have mental health issues that cause or contribute to addiction and overall behavior. The goal should be to help them stop using drugs and to encourage them to take responsibility for their actions and to once again become productive members of society. However, I believe drug dealers should be dealt with harshly. | |||

| Normally I would oppose government relief for businesses and corporations, but this "recession" is not an economic recession at all. it is a government induced recession caused by political decisions made by elected government officials. The shutdown was unnecessary and the financial damage is a direct result of elected officials making unconstitutional decisions based on false data and manipulated statistics. Intentional deception. Therefore, it is only right that businesses and individuals be compensated for the unfair and possibly illegal treatment they endured. | |||

| I support state funding of charter schools so as not to take money away from local public schools. I believe teachers should be paid well, but should be allowed to make decisions regarding standards and curriculum. Federal and state standards lead to poor quality education. Teachers are well educated licensed professionals and should be afforded the authority and flexibility to practice their profession as they choose in the way a doctor or lawyer has latitude to do so. The teaching industry in partnership with parents should establish best practices and minimum standards of care, not the government. | |||

| Promote and develop programs to educate parents, students and school officials about the opportunities in construction and manufacturing trades as an alternative to college. Reform of the judicial system where currently domestic, sexual and child abuse victims are discriminated against and perpetrators are all too often left unpunished for their crimes. | |||
| There is currently tens of millions of dollars in the budget wasted on pork projects and ineffective grant programs. These funds can and should be re-directed toward legislative priorities. |
